Capcom Japan Doesn't Understand
Capcom Japan doesn't understand one bit. Maybe you heard that Capcom Japan has been removing videos from YouTube for using the new Trailer for Street Fighter: V. All the people who used the trailer in their video had authorized use of it, and most of the videos posted with the trailer where very positive saying that they really enjoyed the look of the game and where excited to get their hands on it. But Capcom Japan doesn't get it. They gave the trailer to a little more than 100 people on YouTube to show. Doing this should have made the game highly noticed and lead to people studying and searching the game and maybe even preordering it. But no, Capcom Japan decided to rip it from everyone's eyes and ears. The video I watched by AngryJoe made me aware of the game. It even got me interested in the game, so I went on searching about that game, and guess what? I found nothing because Capcom Japan was taking down websites and journals and videos about the trailer or game. Capcom Japan doesn't understand what a great marketing tool YouTube is. Games like Destiny used YouTube in the best marketing way possible, constantly posting trailers of the game and showing new and interesting tid bits about it. This advertising campaign and the beta made me decide to buy the game. I got my money's worth with destiny, putting in a little more than 100 hours into the game in less than a month. A lot of people got outraged by what Capcom Japan did, i'm obviously one of them. Even though this didn't impact me directly, it got me made. The amount of stupidity that Capcom Japan has is ridiculous. Another good example of a company properly using YouTube as a marketing tool would have to be Ubisoft on FarCry 4. They gave the game early to over 100 highly popular YouTubers and let them do the advertising for them. Capcom Japan doesn't understand that at all. If I hadn't seen on of these YouTubers play this game I never would have bought it. It's more likely now that i'm not going to buy Street Fighter: V because of this. It also doesn't help that Capcom cut off 1/3 of their player base. The game isn't coming to Xbox. Sorry guys, really am, what they did is complete bull. Street Fighter: V is supposed to have cross platform play meaning that the people on PC and PS4 can play with each other. This sounds great right? Yeah it does, but there is one problem, no one on Xbox can play this game, cutting off 1/3 of the people you would've originally been able to play with. Most people are saying that " the game wouldn't even exist if Sony hadn't stepped in and gave Capcom the money to make the game" that's also bull. Why? Because Capcom sold a total of 7.9 million copies of Street Fighter: IV. That's a lot of money made right there. So there's no way that Capcom didn't have the money to make the game, they obviously did. So i'm wondering why? Why take the money from Sony? That I sadly don't have the answer to. Whatever the amount of money that Sony gave to Capcom could've easily been made in sales to Xbox owners. So by doing all of this Capcom has cut 1/3 of the sales they could've made, made it impossible to find the trailer of the game, made it impossible for people to figure out if they actually want to get the game, and pissed of millions of people. GG Capcom, GG. You really done it now. It also doesn't help that Capcom already has a pretty bad rep when it come to gamers. Here's an idea Capcom, let the trailer back on YouTube, give back all the money you stole from the YouTubers, and use YouTube as a marketing tool ok? Not that hard right? It sure is for Capcom apparently. Again I want to hear all opinions on this.
