I know too many people who waste their time. They spend their lives in a subconscious state of regret and misery. I know this because I used to do the same thing, lived my life like it was some nonliving plot of dirt. That was before I discovered the catalyst for the biggest change to have ever occurred in my life, and that was meeting God. My life has been changed for the better a hundred times over, and continues to grow as I accept His guidance and instruction.
Separation from Him only leads to misery and a colorless life. I encourage everyone to seek Him and spread the word, the Word of God. You will see a boom in yourself and the world that will suddenly gain color and vibrancy, tones of rich diversity will overcome you and you will be set free from the chains of a secular existence. If you don't believe me, just invite Jesus into your life and see for yourself.

ReplyDeleteOK in response I would like to open up another point of view. I am happy. I think it's entirely possible to have fulfilling, healthy life. You are entitlled to your opinion. However when you begin to say that your life isn't whole until you found Jesus that is not OK. I am wholeheartedly against the "Your opinion isn't mine therefore it is irrelevant." I am happy and i don't need someone telling me that church will make me happier. If that means I'm going to Hell... At least it's warm.
ReplyDeleteI think your right in your thinking and its totally your choice and i respect your opinion. And It's hard to see the difference Jesus would make in your life in-till you've been through it. And you think that it wouldn't make a difference i encourage you to look up videos on youtube, there are some amazing testimonies.
DeleteI have to agree with Vanilla in this one. Saying every life without God is a dull one isnt very open minded. I find it a bit offensive to those who live very happy and fulfilling lives, and dot have God in their lives. I personally have lived a very happy and achieving life without God.
DeleteI do agree that you can have a happy life without God but for me and all the Christains I know our lives were better when we accepted God into our lives.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I personally do believe in God and the teachings of Christianity, such as love, equality, acceptance, and understanding, do play a very large role in my life, religion alone cannot always pull someone out of bad situations.
ReplyDeleteSituations frequently arise that do require more intervention than prayer. I'm not saying prayer can't help, what I'm saying is God himself will not swagger down to Earth blessing you in a grand show of revival. You won't get better all of a sudden and you won't get better if you don't accept the help that's sent.
Most, if not all, Christians in the Western world have heard the saying "God works in mysterious ways."
I believe in this. Things don't just happen in the blink of an eye and things God sends, if you believe in God or a God, are never obvious. Help may come in the form of a friend or a parent or a group you should join, or a doctor who was able to find a way to help an illness, especially if it is depression or anxiety.
And ignoring another's problem for the reason of "God will help them," never ever EVER is a good reason to not help someone. I'm not accusing you of this but frequently people who are "very Christian" practice Christianity as well as your average beetle does.
If you're a believer in God, he works through people! Always help those in need and understand people and accept people just as Jesus did!
A lot of people would love to "accept God" into their life, but other circumstances make it nearly impossible. Maybe someone is doing something the church finds bad, or their family is crazy and makes believing in God impossible for them, or they love science and believe in God yet every time they dare say "genetics" the word "blasphemy" is blown right back.
Think about those who are biologically incapable of feeling good. The ones whose body doesn't produce hormones so they can feel satisfied and at ease. God will not fix that directly. He placed a therapist and a doctor on this Earth to help them.
Think about the queer individual told they're from hell just because they aren't straight. And they're kind to everyone and even if it is a sin, we all sin as well and Jesus would love them just as much, and yet the world hates them just because they wish to be in a dedicated and healthy relationship.
Think about the people who go day in and day out being told God will help them, but everyone surrounding them ignores all they do.
The thing is, even if you believe God can help people, you have to be that help. Thatdoesn't mean forcing your religion on someone, that means offering a bit of support when someone needs it. It means standing up for someone doing something you don't really understand, but it's not right to demonize them! It means you need to follow Jesus. Not what the Bible said he is or was but what he stood for! He stood for acceptance and love and compassion and a will to fight just because not everyone else can.
God alone will not help someone. He needs someone to work through, and rather than waiting for someone to find help, be that help, regardless of their religion because you know
Jesus never cared what your religion was. He didn't care how you sinned. What he cared about was if you had a good heart, and that's what everyone should follow.
And even if someone here isn't a Christian, accept Jesus's teachings! Chances are you already accepted the teachings that were very similar from your own religion so that's awesome!
All in all, help will not come unless you seek it, and help will not come onto others unless you give it.
I know of people that have gone to church and had their lives completely changed for the better. And I find that amazing. But I also know people that have tried going to church, have tried making a connection with God but just can't find that relationship and they're living their lives just fine! I understand what you're saying and I'm happy that you have found a good life through God and church but that doesn't work for everybody. People can be extremely good and generous and live amazing lives without religion and I've seen this through my own eyes. There are other ways to turn your life around other than religion.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this!! For some people it works and that's great! But it's not the solution for everyone
DeleteYES!! I completely agree with marginsandink on the topic of some Christians ignoring peoples problems by saying "God will help them". I've seen many instances where Christianity is corrupted and people manipulate the bible to fit to their specific needs. There are many instances in history where we see the church being corrupted. Like when the Catholic church would sell indulgences. There are both negatives and positives in religion

ReplyDeletei"m not going to argue with anyone, all I'm going to say is that one half of my family is die hard religious while the other couldn't care less, and i've been surrounded by faith and religion my whole life and a lot of people that have faith and go to church can also be hateful, judgmental people hiding behind the law of religion to justify their own rasism, sexism, ignorant opinion.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely not saying that everyone in church is a hateful person, but what I can say is that in my life i've met more people with tattoos who have never attended church that are understanding and accepting than people who have gone to church every sunday.
If someone is hateful and claims to be a Christian then they're doing it wrong.
DeleteThat is true, it sort of destroys the point of the religion but it is why so many people struggle with it. Many churches are accepting as are the people and yet every day I still hear Christians defend Judgemental views with a vague quote from the bible
DeleteWell-written post. We can do a lot with tone and purpose using your post. I think it was gutsy to post your opinion and your post opened up some interesting dialogue about religion.

ReplyDeleteKarl Marx once said " Religion is the opiate for the masses." do you know what that means? It means religion is simply a drug, something you get addicted to, something you need to have because without it you wouldn't understand anything anymore. If you don't believe in a religion, then you never got on that drug. You don't need a system or a book to guide you because you know what's best. I don't a god to guide me. I need no drug.
