"Dear Future Husband" by Meghan Trainor

Currently number 23 on iTune's pop songs, "Dear Future Husband" by Meghan Trainor is no doubt a catchy song. Yet, the underlying message may be controversial. I encourage you to listen to the song and lyrics here.

Personally, I do not like the message of the song. I feel as if it is giving the idea that women can make mistakes in relationships, yet men cannot. Specifically,  Trainor states, "After every fight, just apologize.... Even if I was wrong, you know I'm never wrong, Why disagree?"

I think the goal of this song was to empower women but in the process it implied women are superior to men.

What do you guys think?

  1. Yeah, Mystery i can see what you're saying. I agree with you completely. I feel like it's saying that the women deserve more respect from the men and all the men get is her body. I don't think that's how it should work.

  2. I think the lines you stated above is just supposed to be funny because I always here men saying that your wife is always right as a joke. I like the song, it's catchy and I don't over think it. It's just a song to me not some controversial issue. There are plenty of other songs that make women feel empowered.
