Adding a little Humor to the Blog

“If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But only if you're serious about adopting the vulture.” -Jack Handy

Would you do it? What would be your vulture's name, I mean if you're adopting it then please at least name the thing. The little guy learned tricks for the bits of your friend after all.

Empire

Anybody watch the show Empire? if so id love to hear your opinions if not, i'd still love to hear them

On Compassion

Take a moment to reflect on the 3 people (the woman with the baby, bakery worker, and the mayor of NY) determine what you believer were their motives for interacting with the homeless.  Why do you believe that person did what he/she did?
Next pick to look at this person through Kohlberg's moral stages or with a gender approach.  What stage would you place this person on Kohlberg's list? Give text support to explain your reasoning.  If you use a gender approach how does this person fit or not fit into the gender expectation.  Use text support to explain your answer.

Meninist

I know that the majority of the school has a twitter and I was wondering if anyone has seen the @/meninisttweet account? The account's a joke, it says so in the bio, but I was wondering what others reactions were to the tweets. Some of them infuriate me, and maybe I can't take a joke, but I might not be the only one.

Emotionally Unfair

Has anyone else noticed that adults kind of imply that kids and teens should never be/have no reason to be upset or stressed about anything? Maybe it's just me, but I always get that feeling. It's like adults expect the youth to constantly be happy and care-free (except when it comes to school, grades, jobs, your social life, and behavior, but you're not allowed to be too worried about those things). If you show even the smallest sign of stress or sadness they freak out and say things like, "You're too young to have problems," or "You have no reason to be upset," except NEWS FLASH teens are some of the most stressed-out people you will ever meet. Age does not exempt you from emotions. We are all humans who all have a wide range of emotions that can vary greatly.

The New Masculinity

We have all seen them before. Those guys at lunch talking about their girlfriends. The size of her butt, her rack, the way she moans. These conversations seem to always devolve into a debauched contest of who can say the most disgusting thing about their significant other. That is what our society calls manly. Men are expected to be athletic, domineering, and studly. They are told that it is cool to cheat, that it is cool to share nudes among friends, because how else can you show how successful you are as a men. The thinking seems to be "I've gotten more tail then you, I'm better than you."

Consider this, there are two guys. One is a intelligent, socially awkward, considerate young boy. The other is the star of the foot ball team, he is a partier and he loves sharing stories of his sexual adventures. We all know which boy will be considered cooler, but who is the real man?

This is a call for a new masculinity. If you are a guy who respects women, who sees them a potential friends rather than as potential scores, come out of hiding. Come out and change the world

Expecting the Unexpected: The Struggle of Being a Pretty Little Liars Fan

Okay, so last night was the PLL season 5 finale, also known as the Big A reveal. We found out who has been A for the past three seasons since the game was stolen from Mona when she went to Radley. Typical of PLL, even though we found out who A was, we still don't know who it is. Being the obsesser that I am, I was looking up theories about who Charles is and how he fits into the story line. If you saw the finale last night,  what'd you think of it? Was it worth the hype of being "the craziest episode" PLL has ever had? What are some of your favorite theories that you've seen or even your own personal theory?
