Journal about a song that is currently inspiring you (or a song that is currently driving you crazy!) You may quote lyrics, describe the music, write about when and why you listen to the song--whatever strikes your fancy--BUT. . . .
You have to keep your answer to between 50 and 100 words!

ReplyDeleteO.k.--so I'm going to start this thing out!!! This song is a bit older. . . it's called "Put the Message in the Box" by World Party. This song is about spreading good will, good works and good karma! The lyrics:
ReplyDelete"And if you listen now
You might hear a new sound coming in
As an old one disappears
See the world in just one grain of sand"
are about seeing greatness in simple things--which I think is inspiring.n
That was already 79 words!!!
A song that actually inspires me would be "No Mercy" by Sick Puppies. While some might consider this song sadistic to an extent for the vocals to say the only way out is death. What of the minds from those who contemplate death?
ReplyDeleteThis song is perfect to show how one can think, "All you do is let the fear decide/If they will love you or if you will just discover." A natural fear for most humans is death, when one breaks past that obstacle, it’s possible. It's an inspirational song because it shows how dark the mind really is.
The song would actually be "Die To Save You" by Sick Puppies, same album, different song.
DeleteA song that inspires me is "O'Sister" by City and Colour. It's just an extremely relatable song to me.
ReplyDelete"There is a sadness on your face
You're like a motherless child who's longing for comfort
What's running through your veins
That's causing you such pain?
Does it have something to do with the pills they gave to you?
What is eating at your soul?"
A song that I've had stuck in my head recently is "The Next Right Thing" by Seth Glier. Each time I listen to it, I get a different meaning, but I think it is about social change.
ReplyDelete"Hey heavn' forces and acquire your preachers
Hey diddle diddle now the fiddle screeches
Moanin' up the stairs and rollin' in bed
She been talkin' to God since 2 a.m.
Sayin' "I don't wanna go, I don't wanna die,
But a sister's gotta save her seat in the sky.
You can judge me, grade me, shed some light,
Do the next right thing or the next thing right
Sayin' "I don't wanna go, I don't wanna die,
But a sister's gotta save her seat in the sky.
You can judge me, grade me, shed some light,
Do the next right thing or the next thing right"
Sorry, I don't know why the last verse repeated itself.
DeleteA song that I enjoy listening to is "Darker Side of the Moon" by Otherwise. Otherwise is one of my favorite rock bands right now and this song has been stuck in my head for several weeks!
ReplyDelete"Save me!
There ain't no wrong or right
Take me!
To the other side.
Darker side of the moon, yeah
Light up, light up our only savior.
Darker side of the moon, yeah.
Hiding from the light's the only way to survive."
I like the Christmas song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Frank Loesser. I know, feel free to make fun all you want, but I'm the kind of person who listens to Christmas music even before Halloween. Christmas music just makes me happier, and I never get tired of it. Not to mention, I'm a Christmas baby. I also love this song because it's a duet, and I love the harmony and tone of the song. It's also in the movie "Elf", so I guess that helps a little bit, too.
ReplyDeleteTurn up for Christmas
DeleteSuch a great seasonal classic. only about 60 more days til "it's the most wonderful time of the year."
DeleteA song I have recently been listening to is Work Song by Hozier, an artist I have been completely obsessed with lately. This song shows such passion, and I consider it one of the most romantic songs I have ever heard. It is however somewhat dark.
ReplyDelete"When, my, time comes around,
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth,
No grave can hold this body down,
I'll crawl home to her."
I like this song because it showed me a more twisted way of expressing love. His voice is so thick yet smooth, and that is hard to find.
One song that I enjoy listening to is Bloom by the Paper Kites. When I'm feeling happy, it reinforces my mood, and when I'm feeling tired or frustrated, it calms me down.
ReplyDelete"Can I take you to a morning
Where the fields are painted gold
And the trees are filled with memories
Of the feelings never told?
When the evening pulls the sun down,
And the day is almost through,
Oh, the whole world it is sleeping,
But my world is you."
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT SONG OH MY GOSH YES
DeleteI love the Paper Kites. Their stuff is pretty interesting.
DeleteA song that inspires me crazy would be the song "Eyes Like Sky" by Frank Ocean. The song is a metaphor for a blind boy being able to see the Earth not through his own eyes, yet through his own ideas. The lyrics inspire me to be a better person and to also be more appreciative about what I have rather than what I don’t. There is more to life than being able to see if you have a life filled with hope, love, and faith.
ReplyDelete“I said "I wish you could see the ocean"
He said "I wish you could see hope"
I said "have you ever seen the mountain?"
He said "no, but my faith could move those"
I said "I wish you could see the stars"
He told me I should see love”
A song that inspires me is "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack.
ReplyDelete"I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance."
I think this is a motivational song because it is saying to move forward. I think it is about determination, and overcoming your struggles in life.
Oh, wow! That song is absolutely amazing! It's gorgeous!
DeleteIndia is love. India is life
ReplyDeleteIs this a song? If so, why do you like it?
DeleteI'm Batman!!!
ReplyDeleteIs that a song?
DeleteA song I don't like is All About that base. I don't know who wrote it but when it comes on the radio my sister sings it and it gives me a headache and gets stuck in my head. I don't want it in my head.
ReplyDeleteI'm a patron of that song, It is my favorite. it is so much better than Led Zeppelin Or The Doors.
DeleteMeganhon Trainor is the rat you can blame for your headaches, and ear bleedings.
Deletei also am a patron because it shows young girls that they don't have to be a toothpick to be beautiful, so no offense, but i don't understand how you could think a song with such an amazing message is annoying. but it is overplayed on the radio.
DeleteA song that erks me is "Let it Go" by Disney in the popular movie Frozen. The first time I heard this song I didn't love but I didn't hate it. Its not something that i would put in my iPod but it also wasn't something that i would bash on on the internet, which is ironically what i am doing now. The problem i have with this and many other popular songs is that it gets overplayed beyond belief. It now shows up everywhere you go and it cant be stopped. It has become a sound of annoyance that is getting worse. What i wish i could do with this song is just "LET IT GOO"
ReplyDeleteThat's all for now folks. "Awe, True to Ceasar."
I agree that "Let it Go" is overplayed, but this song actually displays Idina Menzel's vocal skill and has a deeper meaning. Almost any song is overplayed at some point, some more than others.
DeleteThe song that inspires me is "Try" by Colbie Caillat this song inspires me because it is a song about how you don't have to try so hard to "fit in" because as long as you like yourself that's all that matters. It says "Take your make up off
ReplyDeleteLet your hair down
Take a breath
Look into the mirror, at yourself
Don't you like you?
Cause I like you" this inspires me to be myself and nothing but myself.
This song amazing, I totally agree.
DeleteA song that really annoys me is anaconda...Niki Minaj has never been my favorite singer and i don't know why but her songs never make any sense to me and her voice annnoys me
ReplyDeleteA song that inspires me would be "If you're going through hell". It says that no matter what is happening you can get through it and you don't have to worry about your bad days. You just have to find a way to get through it.
ReplyDeleteIf you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
When you're goin' through hell keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
"I just wanted to be perfect, Lies" Marina And The Diamonds-Lies (Zeds Dead Remix) I'm inspired by this song because it shows the struggles of being a girl. It shows how society twists their views, making girls believe that they have to be perfect, but obviously that's impossible. We shouldn't be worried about meeting peoples exceptions and trying so hard to be perfect, we should be focused on what makes us happy.
ReplyDeleteone song that inspires me is Shake it off because when i listen to it . It reminds me that some thing in life i would just have to shake it off and go gone with what i am doing .
ReplyDeleteA song that is insipiring is "Crooked Smile." I like this song because it shows how hard girls have to try so hard and they shouldn't.
ReplyDelete"Love yourself, girl, or nobody will
Though you're a woman, I don't know how you deal
With all the pressure to look impressive and go out in heels; I feel for you
Killing yourself to find a man that'll kill for you
You wake up, put makeup on, stare in the mirror
But it's clear that you can't face what's wrong; no need to fix
What God already put his paint brush on; your roommate yelling
"Why you gotta take so long?" What it's like to have a crooked smile"
My song is "There Playing Baskestball" for many reason. I love baksetball so that why its my favorite. Also its in Nba 2k 12 which is one of my favorite games.
ReplyDeleteA song i've been listening to a lot lately is by the name of Sandblast. Here's a link to it so you can listen to it when you get home http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=sandblast&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCEQyCkwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7vYSND5HTps&ei=G1VKVMueA9CTyQTAnoGgBA&usg=AFQjCNHaO6y2Hh1qSF3-bNVzebNrapYG1w&bvm=bv.77880786,d.aWw sorry for it being so long, but it's an amazing song. The lyrics don't make much sense, but it doesn't matter due to the song being EDM. It's a great rhythmly based song, that has some absolutely amazing bass drops and rhythms. I suggest a good pair of headphones to listen to this master piece.
ReplyDeleteThere are songs that are good but are played to often. some examples are let it go from last year, and I'm all about that bass. Both songs were okay when they first came out. As time went by the more popular the songs got. People kept singing it or talking about that song. Both songs have good meanings. The bass one is about how you should love yourself for who you are.
ReplyDeleteA song that I find quite annoying is Anaconda by Nicki Manaj. I just find it a waste of time and my time is actually worth something, instead of sitting and watching this women dance some weird dance. also I know some fairly refined five year old children that have written better songs. That is how I feel about Anaconda.
ReplyDeleteA song that drives me crazy and want to have fun with friends is Heros by Alesso.
ReplyDeleteA song that I am interested in is come fly with me by Frank Sinatra.I think it inspires people just follow what they believe. I think it truly shows how everyone wants to live they all just want to pack up and fly away and get of the norm and do there own thing.
ReplyDeleteA song that has recently inspired me is a song titled "Twin Sized Mattress" by an Indie band "The Front Bottoms" which I'm sure nobody has ever heard of, describing how this is song inspires me is something that many people might not understand because the singer of the Front Bottoms has a very unique way of writing his lyrics. in a basic song he tells a story from his high school/college experiences/emotions but as he does this he writes in metaphors which can be perceived in multiple different ways. this being the writing style many people can perceive the song in many different ways the way I perceive it is related emotions and having that feeling of relating to the same emotion as another person with the way a clean guitar riff is played portrays an emotion that makes me not want to give up on anything even if times are difficult, they say music the sound of human emotions which I know sounds really gay I'm straight I swear although I have nothing against gays I think they're cool but it's the reason why I think this song inspires me. Wow I wrote a lot on accident sorry to anyone who actually sat down and read this boring thing. uh byb
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE FRONT BOTTOMS. Twin Sized Mattress was the first song that I heard by them and the chorus is always stuck in my head. Have you heard "Au Revoir" by them? The lyrics aren't really anything special but the music's so good in it.
DeleteThe song that inspires me is "black widow". I say this because it shows no man can mess with you hunty(meant to be spelled wrong) because you'll come after him. "like a black widow baby"
ReplyDeleteA song that I am currently feeling inspired by is Wonderwall by Ryan Adams. This is a really easy song to sing and I like the chorus a lot. "I said maybe, you're gonna be the one that saves me, and after all, you're my wonderwall." This is kind of a line that I can relate to someone in my life, so it definitely hits home. The acoustics are absolutely gorgeous as well and I would highly recommend listening to this song.
ReplyDeleteFYI: I love Ryan Adams but that song was originally written and recorded by Oasis.
DeleteBlogging Across Boundaries: A song that inspires me is "Head Full of Doubt/Roa...
ReplyDeleteschoolboy q blessed because it explains that even when u are going through something hard still stay postie because it could be worse. Commented by shift_team
A song that has inspired me for a long time is "Sweet Child of Mine." I love listening to it when I'm really stressed out (which is almost always). The part I love most about it is the guitar solo. It inspires me to practice guitar even when it's hard or I don't feel like it. I want to be able to play that solo as perfectly as Slash can. If I didn't have this song, I don't know what I would do.
ReplyDelete"Am I Wrong" by Nico & Vinz inspires be because the song contemplates right and wrong. "Am I wrong, for saying that I choose another way." "Am I wrong, for trying to reach the things that I can't say." It corresponds to those people in the world who don't believe in us, who will do anything to knock you down. But "If you tell me I'm wrong, I don't wanna be right." You can still get up again and keep going, because you choose your own "right," and nobody can tell you that you're "wrong."
ReplyDeleteI have the song bailando stuck in my head for some strange reason. It's in Spanish but I just can't seem to get it out of my head. I haven't heard it in over a month but yet still stuck. It's just a song about dancing and finding the "one"
ReplyDelete"Amnesia" by 5 seconds of summer. I listen to this song all the time on repeat, I fall asleep to it at night. It brings me such a profound sense of nostalgia and calm that I've gradually become addicted to the feeling like it's a drug.
ReplyDeleteThe song that I'm currently vibing with is "Rhythm of Love," by the Plain White T's. It's upbeat and very catchy to listen to. Also, Tim Lopez is the lead singer in this song, and he may or may not be very attractive. Anywho, my favorite lines are, "She's got blue eyes deep like the sea/That roll back when she's laughing at me/She rises up like the tide/The moment her lips meet mine." I just love how he compares this woman to the sea and how their actions are similar. I recommend this song to whoever likes good music!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a classic
DeleteAn inspirational song to me would most likely be Not Afraid by Eminem, which descibes bouncing back from something that has gotten you down. The song is about him recovering from drug abuse, and how he has gotten his life back on track. It really shows you that anyone is capable of overcoming nearly anything that is challenging.
ReplyDeleteEminem has to be the most iconic music Artist of all time. Good choice.
DeleteThe song Warriors by Imagine Dragons, is a song that I am listening to constantly at the moment. It is a song filled with surprises. The song keeps becoming more suspenseful as the song progresses. The song sounds like one that would play played during a trailer of an action or adventure film. The cliffhanger at the end of the piece keeps making me want to listen to it again. It truly provides an unforgettable story in the relatively short song.
ReplyDeleteA song that inspires me is "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise." The song reminds me of the goals I want to achieve in life and it drives me to reach the standards I have set for myself. The chorus of the song ignites me the most and it reminds me of the freedom I have as a person and how self-confidence and believing in yourself is the key to success.
ReplyDelete"There was a dream and one day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And there was a kid with a head full of doubt
So I'll scream till I die and the last of those bad thoughts are finally out." This is a comment by The_Real_Sim_Shady.
A song that inspires me is Lose Yourself, by Eminem. This particular song inspires me because it tells me,"You better lose yourself in the music," and,"You better never let it go." These comments reached out to me and told me to own my dreams, in my case music, and to never let them go, because you never know that it could be the only opportunity that you could get.
ReplyDeleteThe song that has been stuck in my head 24/7 is "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel. I think it's a good song, but I have been listening to it a lot and it gets to a point where it drives me crazy sometimes. And its only the chorus that gets in my head!
ReplyDelete"We Didn't Start the Fire, it was always burnin' since the worlds been turnin'. We Didn't Start the Fire, oh we didn't light it, but we try to fight it."
I'm stuck between four songs. Car Radio by Twenty-one Pilots, Blue Skies by Noah and the Whale, Out of Mind by Tove Lo, and Dancing Through Life from the musical Wicked. These are all really different songs and I wouldn't say any of them are my favorite, but they all remind me of this past summer which was the greatest time of my life. These are the songs that my friends and I would listen to while we mindlessly drove around late at night and they remind me of those times.
ReplyDeleteBlue Skies is an amazing song. Those kinds of nights are truly the best!
DeleteFor about a week or so, ive been repeatedly listening to is "back in black" by ACDC. Of course, ive heard this song before, but it just hit me this week in a way that was different. I listened to it closely and at a loud volume. I absorbed the music and felt the lyrics. I really understood the meaning and determination of the song, and discovered that there are many ways to look at a piece of music.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great song! Most of ACDC's music is!
DeleteA song that inspires me is "Kindest Regards", by Witty. It like tells his story and it shows you that with faith and hard work you can over come anything. one of my favorite quotes from the song is thhe last line is it, "I know this life is hard, the darkest nights make the brightest stars i know you can feel this whoever you. kidest regards." i think its a really meaningful quote and I'd like to get a tattoo that says "the darkest nights make the brightest stars".
ReplyDelete"Ok now step up and move on, how can I rise up to my feet, when I've been here now for so long, teach me to live, show me to key," are just some of the lyrics from the amazing Cisco Alder's playlist. He has many songs but this one is all about how to overcome life with someone by your side! I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteWe Own It
ReplyDeleteThis song pretty much explains my friends and I. There is nothing better than having each others backs, loving cars, and most of all driving the fast cars. Secrets hidden. Only the group knows what were talking about, when it comes too tough situations. The song we own it, is simply a song symbolizing brother ship, loyalty, and putting everything you have on the line. Every action pursued and every accomplishment is for the team. When a group of friends sets out on a task that they all agreeably decided on, they cannot be stopped. Can't remember who posted this, but they made it a new post, not a comment.
"There's Hope" by India Arie really almost any song by Arie is a source of inspiration for me. However in this particular song she sings about spending time with a man that most people would consider to be less fortunate than most and yet he is happy maybe even happier than most. We get so caught up in what is wrong and what we don't have that sometimes I just need to remember to find the happiness in what is and not what is not. There is always hope for the future.
ReplyDeleteMy song type that makes me happy is classical rock.
ReplyDeleteOne song that really inspires me is the song Courtesy of the red, white and blue by Toby Keith. This song inspires me because in the song it talks about how strong America is and how it talks about our soldiers and everything, and I really like it because I want to join the military after school.
ReplyDeleteSame dood.
DeleteLove that song bro, i have so many songs I like/love, choosing one was hard.
DeleteThe song that inspires me is "All About That Bass". This song can get annoying I know but it has a fanatic message to all ladies. Its telling girls its okay if your not the skinniest girl in the world. Embrace who you are. Don't be afraid of who you are because people will like you how you are.
ReplyDeleteI picked "Drunk" Ed Sheeran because my life problems today kind of relate to that song. Im having issues in my life. and I just like to listen to this song because I relate.
ReplyDeleteI wanna be drunk when I wake up
On the right side of the wrong bed
And never an excuse I made up
Tell you the truth I hate
What didn't kill me
It never made me stronger at all.
Love will scar your make-up, lip sticks to me
So now I maybe lean back there
I'm sat here wishing I was sober
I know I'll never hold you like I used to.
But a house gets cold when you cut the heating
Without you to hold I'll be freezing
Can't rely on my heart to beat in
'Cause you take parts of it every evening
Take words out of my mouth just from breathing
Replace with phrases like when you're leaving me.
Should I, should I?
Maybe I'll get drunk again
I'll be drunk again
I'll be drunk again
To feel a little love
I wanna hold your heart in both hands
Not watch it fizzle at the bottom of a Coke can
And I got no plans for the weekend
So should we speak then
Keep it between friends
Though I know you'll never love me like you used to.
There may be other people like us
Who see the flicker of the clipper when they light up
Flames just create us but burns don't heal like before
And you don't hold me anymore.
On cold days cold plays out like the band's name
I know I can't heal things with a hand shake
You know I can't change as I began saying
You cut me wide open like landscape
Open bottles of beer but never champagne
To applaud you with the sound that my hands make.
Should I, should I?
Maybe I'll get drunk again
I'll be drunk again
I'll be drunk again
To feel a little love.
All by myself
I'm here again
All by myself
You know I'll never change
All by myself
All by myself
I'm just drunk again
I'll be drunk again
I'll be drunk again
To feel a little love.
"Shake it off" by Taylor Swift is one of her best songs yet. I didn't always like her because she only wrote about her sad and depressing break ups, and all he songs never made me happy. But when I heard this song, I finally smiled and sang along to it. In her song she sings how you can be single and have fun without boys. That you should let them be them and you be you and have with being single. Its one of her first songs where she expresses how happy she is to be single and not sad that another relationship didn't work out. I think this song can help a lot of girls out there who are upset over a break up and help them realize, being single can be happy and fun too. Its up beat song with a fun rhythm keeps me coming back to listen one more time.
ReplyDelete"But I keep cruising
Can't stop, won't stop moving
It's like I got this music
In my mind
Saying, "It's gonna be alright.""
The song i'm inspired by, is Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin Because its probably in my opinion, one of the greatest songs in Rock history. Although i don't know much about the song, i know its about a girl who goes to the stairway to heaven metaphorically speaking. And the song is just a great song.
ReplyDeleteI hate toast.
Deletei love toast. i eat some every morning;)
Deleteno.
DeleteJimbo is a stupid name
DeleteGood choice in song, and genre (Rock).
DeleteAmazing song. Oh, and I love toast.
DeleteThe song that I am addicted to at the moment is by Ron Pope, "Drop in the Ocean". I enjoy this song because it is filled with a lot of emotion and the lyrics have so much meaning within every single word. This song never fails to put me in a good mood when I'm feeling down. I feel like this song relates to every person. No one gets everything they want and sometimes you find yourself wishing for things that will never happen.
ReplyDeleteThat song is so cute and peaceful. I love that song too but its not my favorite.
DeleteI completely agree. I love Ron Pope's music, and A Drop In the Ocean has some great, meaningful lyrics. I've even learned this song on piano so I can sing it whenever I want. Not only are the lyrics brilliant, but the piano part is beautiful as well.

ReplyDeleteA song that inspires me is the song "chillin` it" by Cole Swindell. This song is saying that everyone just needs to chill out and have fun. Even when times are difficult you need to go have fun no matter what to get your mind off of what ever it is.
ReplyDelete"I got my shades on, top back,
Rolling with the music jacked,
One on the wheel, one around you baby
Sunset
I bet
There's a chance we can get
Sure enough
Tangled up,
Laid back and lazy"
Jingle Bell Rock
ReplyDeleteThe song that almost everyone knows, that is sung by family's and friends. This song gets stuck in my head whenever someone sings it, it doesn't matter what time of year it is its a song that could make anyone happy. It bring's out the joy of Chrismas
The song that inspire me is Hands on me by Ariana Grande. She has the amazing voice. She is the best singer ever. I love her songs.
ReplyDeleteThe song that is stuck im my head is all about the bass. I like that song but its not my favorite song.
As of today's music there is one song in particular that annoys me so much! That song is "Rude" by Magic. This whole song is about a boy who cannot accept the fact that the woman he wants to marry's father won't allow him, but he decides that it would be appropriate to do so anyway. This song is unconscionably sending the message of "running away and breaking the rules to do what you desire to do" to the children of this generation. Which can cause many future problems.
ReplyDeleteA song that I have always loved is "Mocking Bird" by Eminem. The reason for that is because I can relate to the song so much. In the song it talks about how he isn't there sometimes for his daughter. I relate to that because there was times when my dad has been gone and hasn't been able to be there for me. In the lyrics it says: "I know mommy's not here right now.." This part also relates to me because my mother is always gone and is never there when I've needed her.
ReplyDeleteOverall, the a song that's stuck in my head is "Secret" by Pierces which is also known as the Pretty Little liars theme song if all of you know.
ReplyDeleteThe overall message I see about this song is mostly about keeping your secret and keeping all you're words and thoughts to your self.
As the songs states, "'Cause two can keep a secret if one of them is dead" is kinda true about the saying "Loose lips sink ships"
What do you guys think?
The song that drives me absolutely crazy is Classic by MKTO. My sister dances and she has a routine to this song, so she constantly is playing it. The song originally annoyed me, so the overplaying of it did not help whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteA song that drives me crazy is the song "Happy" by Pharrel. This song is way too overplayed on the radio. Every time it comes on it's like a natural instinct of mine to change the station. How can someone be that happy? And is it really that necessary to sing about it in a high pitch voice? This song annoys me so much that I cringe every time I hear it. There definitely comes a time where a song should stop being played on the radio and should be forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU. Your are excactly right.

ReplyDeletePersonally, i love the song Crazy Train by Ozzie Osbourne. If you're into rock, then listen to this song if you haven't... I'm pretty sure you've heard it if you're a true rock lover. and a song that drives me absolutely crazy is the song All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor, its just so annoying. I get the whole idea of "making a girl feel pretty"... and I respect that. But can you PLEASE not do it in a annoying way?
ReplyDelete"Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star? One without a permanent scar// And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?"
ReplyDeleteOne song I've been listening to lately is "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. I really love their music and the deeper meaning behind the words. Train uses their songs to tell stories and help people feel deeper emotion. And to me, those are the best kinds of songs.
I love this song! I like your name by the way...
DeleteOne of my favorite songs is Freedom by Jimi Hendriz even though I really love all of his music. He is a huge influence for me and his music has helped me through a lot. But I personally love all music in general.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a music person-- well, I enjoy soundtracks a bit more than modern music to be honest. I do, however, really enjoy Lonely Boy by the Black Keys. It doesn't really have anything to do with the lyrics, I just like the beat and the band's style. When I listen to it? My phone is always on shuffle so whenever it comes on.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song changes almost 3 times a day so it's hard to pick one, but one song that I've heard recently has become somewhat of my anthem. "Holding On to You" by twenty | one | pilots has really impacted me, especially because of one particular verse:
ReplyDelete"You think twice about your life, it probably happens at night,
Right? Fight it, take the pain, ignite it,
Tie a noose around your mind loose enough to breathe fine and tie it,
To a tree, tell it, "You belong to me,
This ain't a noose, this is a leash,
And I have news for you, you must obey me."
This verse made me want to take control of my life and my mindset; to do my best to keep pessimistic thoughts from creeping in and looming over my life. It made me realize that I have the ability to take control and not just be dragged around, going where I'm told to go.
My favorite song would have to be "Derezzed" by Daft Punk because it was the song that got me hooked on the techno genre which is now one of my favorite genres. My father also enjoys techno, so it's something that we both enjoy, and something that brings us together. Plus it's the main song in an amazing movie called "Tron Legacy".
ReplyDeleteThe Billy Joel song "Piano Man" is one of my favorites. I like the message of hope it gives the listener.

ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite songs ever! :)
Deletemy favorite song (right now) is "Don't" by Ed Sheeran. every time the song comes on I just want to dance and sing along with it. the lyrics are so catchy and he says them so fast it's like he's ripping off a band-aid so it won't hurt as much. And when you listen to lyrics you hear that the song is actually about this relationship where a girl cheats on him. Go listen to the song because it's great.
ReplyDeleteThe most influential musical artist in my life as of right now is Lauryn Hill. In my eyes she is the epitome of beautiful music. Her song "I gotta find peace of mind" speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteThe song "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit always makes me want to dance. There's not one time I hear that song and don't want to jump out of my seat and break it down. And the strange thing is, it's always the same dance moves. It's like a strange mental choreography that I can't get out of my head. It always starts at the same point in the chorus when it says "If you gave me a chance, I would take it..." and ends at "No no no no no place I'd rather be."
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song is "The Worst" by Jhene Aiko. This song is so amazing and I can never get it out of my head. Her lyrics are really great and they are meaningful. I just love her style and the way she sings. Some lyrics she sings really make you think about life and what people go through everyday. She is just overall amazing.
ReplyDeleteJhene Aiko is a great artist! I really like Bed Peace too (mostly because it features Childish Gambino) but you should listen to it if you haven't.
Delete“…I’ve got big big plans, but I can see them falling through almost feel them slipping through the palms of my sweaty hands.” My favorite song is Maps by TFB. As an indecisive teen, I can relate to the lyrics and I always find myself coming back to listen to it. I love TFB.
ReplyDeleteA song that's been driving me crazy lately would be "Superheros" by The Script.
ReplyDeleteFrom personal experience, I've noticed everyone has problems or at least some defining issue of their life. I really like the message of how you can "turn pain into power". Overall, I feel as if this song is inspiring and something everyone can relate to.
"I know you care
ReplyDeleteI know it has always been there
but there's trouble head I can feel it
you are just saving yourself when you hide it
yeah I know you care
I see it in the way that you stare
as if there was trouble ahead and you knew it
I'll be saving myself from the ruin"
A song that has really inspired me lately is "I know you care" by Ellie Goulding. This song inspires me because it represents a situation where you have to give up someone or something that you love/care for. The reason this inspires me is because when I listen to the lyrics, I can hear the sadness in her voice and you can almost feel the way she's telling him that she has to save herself from the inevitable heartbreak of their relationship.
"I know it wasn't always wrong
but I've never known a winter so cold
now I don't warm my hands in your coat
but i still hope
cause this is how things ougt to have been
and i know the worst of it wasnt old
and it seemed why cant i dream?
why can't i dream?"
Does an upbeat song or slow song inspire you more?
Upbeat is much more inspiring because it makes me want to be happy!
DeleteMy favorite song of the moment is Blue Ocean V19 by Jaden Smith ft. Willow. I really like this song right now because it's just mellow. I can listen to it in any mood I'm in. The music, not just the lyrics is beautiful. I first listened to the song in the music video and I just grew attached to it immediately. I know people like to make fun of Jaden Smith and what he has to say sometimes but I think this song really shows how much talent he has. I really like the fact that people around my age made this song. It really inspired me and showed me I can reach my dreams as well.I would really recommend watching the video.www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRNC0uGsIE0
ReplyDeleteI've always been a fan of Taylor Swift, so when "Shake it Off" came out I was super excited. Her positive message and cheerful outlook can change my day around. The music video is absolutely adorable and I love how confident she is while singing! I can't wait for the full album to come out.
ReplyDelete"It like I got this music
In my mind
Saying, "It's gonna be alright."'
I just recently got obsessed with "Good Thing" by Sam Smith. My favorite line would have to be, "Too much of a good thing, isn't good anymore."
ReplyDeleteI just like how his music is vulnerable and slow. I'm not really sure what the lyrics mean to me yet but I just can't seem to get it out of my head. He puts a lot of emotion of into his singing. I think that's why I'm so connected to the song. I've spent so much time listening to these lyrics that I haven't actually analyzed the meaning of it.
Right now I am not really in to a certain song or hate a certain song, but song that always come on the radio or always are about the same thing over and over again tend to get annoying very quickly. Though some songs that are unique and show something creative tend to be the best.
ReplyDeleteI’m very confused; why do so many people classify rap music as "bad" because of the cursing? In my favorite Kanye song, "Dark Fantasy," there's a group of lyrics that stands out to me. "Tell me how do you respond to the students? And refresh the page and restart the memory? Respark the soul and rebuild the energy?” Kanye is addressing the real problem of how teachers can’t teach this generation of kids because they don’t want to listen. On the flipside of things, songs by artists like One Direction are automatically considered to be appropriate. However, their most popular song, “WMYB” talks about a girl who doesn’t know she’s beautiful, and basically teaches girls that low self confidence is attractive!!
ReplyDeleteWow, thoughtful response. I love the way you are questioning what seems to be respected by the mainstream and looking beneath the surface. I agree with you about Kanye's song.
DeleteA song that I have always loved is "Let It Go" by The Neighbourhood. I love this song not only because of its catchy beat, but also because of the lyrics. The chorus to this song is: "Remember what the people said
ReplyDeleteRemember what the people said
When it's said and done
Let it go".
I think these lyrics are really true and apply easily to anyone's life, because in many cases it is best to just let go of the past and of anything that is holding you back or upsetting you.
That song is addictive. I love it, and I really agree with its message too.
DeleteI like the Frozen version better....
DeleteA song that inspires me is Blood on the leaves by Kanye West. Only because the song Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday is the background music, about the lynchings in the 50s and 60s. Later in the song, Kanye says "We could've been somebody." This makes me think, could those people that were lynched have made a difference in today's society? How would today be different if these people had never experienced racism, or if many of those people were alive today?
ReplyDeleteCows are sacred
ReplyDeleteA song that I am into right now is Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj. I think it's a really good song and a fun one to listen to.
